Dr. Tim Maillet
Optometrist
Dr. Tim Maillet was born and raised in Moncton, New Brunswick. After completing high school, he attended l’Université de Moncton for 2 years to obtain a Diploma in Health Sciences. Dr. Maillet then moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia to attend Dalhousie University, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree with Honours in Microbiology & Immunology. The final year of that program involved concentrated studies/research in immunology and healing. He then moved to Waterloo, Ontario to finish his studies at the University of Waterloo’s School of Optometry. He obtained his Doctor of Optometry degree in 2005.
Dr. Maillet is proud to have provided eye care services for Nova Scotians since 2005. Over the last several years, he has worked as an associate optometrist within a variety of private practices throughout Halifax, Dartmouth, Upper Tantallon, Elmsdale, Windsor, and Lunenburg. He provides thorough eye examinations for people of all ages, with a special interest in ocular health and general health management. Dr. Maillet also has a very special interest in contact lens fittings and the co-management of laser eye surgery and intraocular implant surgery. He has acquired extensive experience in surgical co-management by playing the role of Clinical Director at TLC Laser Eye Centres (Halifax, NS) since 2010. In fact, he has enjoyed the freedom from glasses & contact lenses since May 2012, when he had LASIK laser eye surgery!
As a father of two young children, Dr. Maillet understands the importance of regular pediatric eye examinations. Vision plays a pivotal role in learning within homes, daycares, and schools. He embraces the challenges of a pediatric eye examination and is honoured to help play a role in a child’s development.
Dr. Maillet is fluently bilingual in English and French. He is a proud Acadian who is fascinated by the subtle differences in Acadian culture throughout New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
Dr. Maillet looks forward to providing eye care services to residents of Hammonds Plains and surrounding areas, where he and his family also live.
